Thai Language School

A good Thai Language School will offer several levels and have both full day and evenening Thai classes.

When applying to a Thai Language School you should be asked to come for an interview and a test, unless you are a total beginner and have no knowledge of the Thai language.

When you are in Thailand language schools can be found in the major cities, certainly you will find several Thai language schools in Bangkok.

Thai Language SchoolBut there are excellent language schools also in all other parts of the world that provide Thai classes, your best bet is to look up the Yellow pages and find them under the heading "language school" or "language courses".

How can you be sure that you are getting quality lessons? Your best bet is to ask for referals from former Thai students. Any school who is sure of the quality of their classes and their Thai teachers will let you have at least a few phone numbers that you can call.

The next criteria is to make sure you are offered a sample lesson for free to see if the teacher, the methods and the other students meet your expectations. Be sure not to sign a longterm contract for many lessons before you haven't checked out everything.

Also, never sign a contract that commits you to longterm participation. Or if you do, make sure there is a clear clause in that contract to allow you to stop going to Thai lessons and to receive a refund for the lessons that you did not take.

In short: Going to a Thai language school has advantages for some students who don't have the willpower to learn on their own. There are a few points to observe before comitting, if you do, then your Thai classes can be a lot of fun and productive.

If you have a hard time following a set schedule due to other comitments and can't visit a Thai language school regularly, then using audio classes that you can play wherever you want and whenever you want might be a valuable alternative! The Pimsleur Thai audio lessons are a great way to make use of the audio learning method.

What customers say about the Pimsleur THAI audios:

I have worked with this set of CD's and have found them to be both easy to use and effective. They are very well designed. It is clear to see that much thought went into the material that was selected, and the presentation of that material. I highly recomend this very inexpensive language package for anyone seeking a first time experience with the Thai Laguage.  -- Stephen Kristian, Rockaway, NY, USA

Asian languages can be a challenge for western ears and tongues. I found this program very helpful and entertaining.
I was very comfortable greeting people, conversing, bartering and asking question in Thai, though my accent often brought smiles and giggles. The Pimsleur programs work best for anyone planning a short vacation, who speaks little to none of the native languge. Coupled with a good phrase book, like Lonely Planet's, Pimsleur remains my favorite language program. -- a customer

This really is the course I've been looking for. This course has me actually wanting to try what I've learned with my Thai BF. He loves it. Some small corrections, but I think that's formal vs. casual.

I LOVE this course. Listen to one lesson a day, repeat it if you like (when traveling and you can't speak out loud) but make sure at least one is out loud.

And it REALLY works.
